Silver Pond Seafood Chinese Restaurant served their last dim sum on Sunday, September 16. The landmark restaurant at 56-60 Main St., Flushing, across the street from New York Hospital Queens, formerly Booth Memorial Hospital, had been at the same location for 25 years. The large corner spot was no stranger to culinary activity: before Silver Pond took over the site, a Greek American style diner served the neighborhood.
During its quarter-century in existence, Silver Pond's reputation grew. The restaurant earned a high mark in the Zagat Guide and was once a Restaurant of the Week in the Gazette. Loyal regulars will miss their favorite Hong Kong style dining place.
Reportedly, a bank will occupy the location. The Gazette will provide details as they become available.
