Borough-Wide Blotter Man Shoots His Own Foot Cops at the 108th Precinct arrested a 54-year-old Long Island City man on September 6 after he shot himself in the foot with a 12-gauge shotgun. Police said Romono Thomas called 911 from his 27th Street apartment at about 3 p.m. on September 6 seeking medical assistance. When police arrived, Thomas told them he had mistakenly shot himself with the weapon, law enforcement sources said. Cops arrested Thomas on reckless endangerment charges and seized the shotgun. Thomas could face up to a year in jail, if convicted. 111th Precinct Couple Busted on Weapons Charges A 24-year-old Bayside couple found themselves in hot water with the law on September 6 after cops responding to a domestic dispute found guns and ammunition in a locked box at their home on 217th Street. Police sources said cops were called to the home after Nicholas Benetos allegedly punched and pushed his wife during an argument. Cops investigating the dispute asked the couple if they had any weapons at the home, police sources said. The couple led police to a locked box where the cops discovered several unregistered guns, along with hundreds of rounds of ammunition, the sources said. Benetos was arrested and charged with assault, harassment and multiple counts of weapons possession. His wife, Lisa, is also facing multiple weapons charges, police said. Hunt Armed Robber Police in Bayside are searching for a brazen thief who threatened a man at knifepoint and stole his cash and cellphone on September 12. Cops said the victim was walking near 210th Street and 30th Avenue when he was accosted by the suspect, who held a knife to the victim's stomach and said, "Empty your pockets or I'll cut you." The victim complied and the suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction, police said. The victim was not injured in the incident.
