Mets Honor Young Readers
The two Serbi cousins posed with New York Mets mascot Mr. Met at Shea Stadium August 22

Nine-year-old Benjamin Serbi of East Elmhurst and his cousin, Gilad Serbi, five years old, were among the young readers honored at Shea Stadium on August 22 by the New York Mets. Benjamin won

contest to name the Summer Reading mascot in Queens, a cartoon dog detective. He suggested the name "Inspector Clues-oh". Benjamin reads at the Langston Hughes branch of the Queens Borough Public Library with Children's Librarian Alexandra Power.

The Mets annually give away thousands of game tickets to children in all five boroughs as incentive prizes to keep kids reading during the school summer hiatus. They have partnered with libraries throughout New York City for more than a decade to enhance the program.

The Queens Borough Public Library is an independent, not-for-profit corporation and is not affiliated with any other library. The library serves a population of 2.2 million in the most ethnically diverse county in the U.S. With a record 21 million items in circulation for Fiscal Year 2007, the library has the highest circulation of any public library system in the U.S. and one of the highest circulations in the world. For more information about programs, services, locations, events and news, visit the Queens Borough Public Library Web site at www.queenslibrary.org or call 718-990-0700.
