Flushing House residents wanted to do something silly and have a good time laughing together, so Flushing House Recreation Director Lisa Hoxie came up with an idea for a "Crazy Hat" party. Last Tuesday, August 21, 30 residents got together in the game room and made their own "Crazy Hats". The following day, Wednesday, August 22, they modeled their creations to the humorous accompaniment of musician Rob Tauby from Lee Gross Entertainment, Dobbs Ferry, New York.
Some 80 residents filled the Flushing House dining room with laughter as they cheered on their favorite hat designs and models. "Residents enjoyed the party so much we're planning to do it again in the future," Hoxie said.
Built in 1974, Flushing House was one of the first not-for-profit retirement residences to combine independent living with supportive services on the premises.
