Don't Blame Workers
To The Editor:

It really is about time to stop criticizing the unsafe conditions at the former Deutsche Bank.

Fire inspectors were supposed to "inspect" this building every 15 days. That never happened!

They were supposed to have a plan of attack to combat the fire. That never happened!

Why do they blame the workers? Every asbestos abatement job has a supervisor inspecting the work before and after the removal. How did water get up there for the showers?

This job had city, state, and federal inspectors because of its nature. Did they miss something? Didn't they know something?

Sure, blame construction workers because of their work habits. It really is the easy way out. These people are the only ones who know the removal process. It isn't their first job. They do this for a living. Apparently official inspectors and the Fire Department don't!
