Borough-Wide Blotter Cops Seize Flushing Arsenal Cops responding to a 911 call of a domestic dispute between a brother and sister on August 9 seized a massive cache of guns, swords, other weapons and ammunition, authorities said. Police responding to a report of a dispute at an apartment at 141-04 Laburnum Ave. at about 11 p.m. found a 31-year-old Asian woman waiting outside, who said her brother had pulled a gun on her. Inside the apartment, police found Leos Tseng, 29, surrounded by an arsenal of 46 handguns, 12 rifles, a shotgun, seven silencers, a compound bow and arrows, swords, daggers, knives and other "bladed" weapons and ammunition, including numerous orange-tipped incendiary "tracer" cartridges, authorities said. Police sources said several of the rifles were military style and two were automatic rifles. Sources said the silencers are illegal in all 50 states and cannot be used in sport or competition shooting. Possession of a silencer in New York state is a felony, according to police. Law enforcement sources said Tseng, who was believed to be distraught after an argument with his estranged wife, was arrested after a brief struggle with cops. Tseng was charged with multiple counts of criminal possession of a loaded firearm, assault on a police officer and resisting arrest. Hunt Whitestone Bank Bandit Queens detectives are seeking help from the public to identify and locate a brazen bandit who strolled into an Astoria Federal Savings Bank branch on August 9 and fled with a fistful of greenbacks. Police said the suspect entered the branch on 10th Avenue near 152nd Street at about 3:35 p.m., and handed a note demanding cash to a teller. The teller handed the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash. He fled in an unknown direction, po- lice said. The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic male, 25 to 30 years old, 5'6" to 5'8" and about 145 pounds. Anyone with information is asked to call the Crimestoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS. 111th Precinct 'Alarmed' Break-In Suspects Sought Police in Bayside are searching for two suspects whose plans to burglarize a local residence last week were thwarted by a home alarm system. Cops said the two suspects fled after they tripped the alarm on a house at 64th Avenue and 228th Street when they tried to force open the front door to the residence. Eyewitnesses told police they spotted a red minivan cruising along 228th Street a short while after the break-in. Two men inside the minivan fled when they were approached, eyewitnesses said. One of the suspects is described as approximately 30 years old, 5'10" and about 200 pounds, police said. Anyone with information on the suspects is asked to call the Crimestoppers Hotline at 1-800- 577-TIPS. 115th Precinct Couple Charged In Asbestos-School Scam Investigators for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey recently busted a New Jersey couple for helping students to cheat on state certification exams at an asbestos removal school the pair operated in Jackson Heights. Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said Juan Herrera, 61, and Julia Herrera, 49, who operated the Senagryph Training Facilities at 37- 42 72nd St., supplied answers on state certification exams to "hundreds of students" working toward obtaining licenses for asbestos removal. Brown also said the couple routinely advised students who were in the U.S. illegally to falsify Social Security information on the exams. The Herreras are facing three first-degree charges, including falsifying business records, tampering with public records and offering a false instrument for filing. |
