Astoria Federal Gives $12.5K To Library Summer Program

On Thursday, July 12, Carolyn Fostel, assistant vice president and community relations marketing manager for the Astoria Federal Savings Bank Marketing Department, based in Lake Success, presented a $12,500 check to Queens Library Foundation Associate Director Peter Wayne in support of the Queens Borough Public Library Summer Reading Program. Sharon Banks, community library manager at the library's Pomonok branch, led Wayne and Fostel on a tour of the branch library's Summer Reading Programs underway that day. They met Summer Reading Club youth as they read their books and participated in arts activities in the Pomonok branch Children's Room, while other children worked on bean crafts during a "Beyond Beans" session. Astoria Federal Savings' funding will support enrichment activities such as "Beyond Beans" and "End-of-Summer
Celebrations", where children, friends and family
celebrate their reading accomplishments. Astoria Federal Savings Bank has a tradition of community support in Queens.
