Brown Is 2nd Longest Serving DA In Queens History

Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown became the second longest serving district attorney in the history of Queens County, moving past Charles P. Sullivan (1935- 1951) in May 2007. Brown became district attorney of Queens County in 1991.

He is surpassed in longevity only by Benjamin W. Downing (1865-1883) and will overtake Downing in May 2010.

Prosecuting attorneys were introduced to the county in 1777. No one but Downing stands in the way of Brown getting the gold medal.

There have been 33 district attorneys or their equivalents in Queens County history.
