Recycle Air Conditioners, Be Eligible For Cash Vouchers

Residential and multifamily building customers of Con Edison electric service can turn in old, working room air conditioners at 48th Avenue and Vernon Boulevard, Long Island City on Saturday, July 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and become eligible to earn a cash bounty when they purchase a new ENERGY STAR® qualified model. Those turning in a window air conditioner will be eligible to receive a $35 voucher and those turning in a through-the-wall air conditioning unit will be eligible to receive a $100 voucher, redeemable at participating retailers toward the purchase of a new ENERGY STAR® model. The old, inefficient air conditioners turned in will be properly recycled.

The recycling events are run by a coalition of the New York State Environmental Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), Con Edison, the New York Power Authority (NYPA), Energy Star and the Council on the Environment of New York City.
