Maureen Rizzo Dies At 73

Maureen R. Rizzo

Maureen R. Rizzo, a long-time resident of Astoria, died June 25 at White Plains Hospital surrounded by her family. She was 73 years old. Born Dec. 5, 1933 to Walter and Mildred (Campbell) Tierney, she married Rocco A. Rizzo in August 1952. He predeceased her in 1974. She was very active in St. Joseph's Parish and lived in Astoria for almost 60 years before moving to Westchester in 2005.

She is survived by daughters Pamela Duffy (husband Chris) and Patricia Verde (husband Henry) and her son, Rocco Rizzo (wife Patty) and her sister, Evelyn Griffin, and her brother, Kevin Tierney. She was a loving grandmother to John Duffy, Thomas Verde, Rocco, Emily & Patrick Rizzo. Services were held under the direction of Thomas M. Quinn & Sons Funeral Home.
