Crystal Windows Supports UN Global Compact Crystal Window & Door Systems' 2006 compliance report on its participation in the United Nations Global Compact is now available. The report was filed with the United Nations Global Compact Initiative earlier this year. Crystal has since reviewed feedback and suggestions for future activities relating to this progressive international effort. The report is available upon request to customers, business affiliates, suppliers and the public. Future plans call for posting the report on the company's Web site, www.crystalwindows.com. Set forth in July 2000 by the United Nations, the United Nations Global Compact focuses on the private sector and brings together companies from around the world in support of universal environmental and social principles and goals. Hundreds of companies of all sizes and from many industries across the globe are now engaged in this voluntary initiative. Crystal joined the Global Compact a few years later, becoming familiar with its mission through Crystal's philanthropic work and fledgling international developments. By focusing attention on specific areas of business activity, the United Nations Global Compact encourages companies throughout the world to review their practices and to actively work to advance 10 business principles relating to human rights, labor policies, the environment and anti-corruption practices. Crystal has a history of embracing progressive business practices, providing its employees with a positive and healthy work environment. "Crystal is an international company and to continue to prosper, we must promote our high standards," Thomas Chen, Crystal president and founder, said. "The Global Compact allows Crystal to provide a positive example for our business affiliates here and abroad of how to be successful and a good global citizen at the same time." Participants in the United Nations Global Compact file an annual report, known as the "Communication on Progress", on the activities and initiatives they have undertaken to advance each of 10 business principles related to environmental responsibility, employment policies, community responsibility and anti-corruption practices.
