Steinway Street BID Holds Annual Meeting

The Steinway Street Business Improvement District held its annual meeting on June 15 at Pasta Fina Restaurant, 30- 10 Steinway St. Julian Wager, president of the Steinway Street DMA, the governing body of the BID, welcomed the membership, noting that this year's turnout was the largest since the inception of the BID.

State Senator George Onorato, guest speaker for the event, commended the business improvement district for its fine work over the years. He noted that the board, in concert with the membership, had kept Steinway Street a sound shopping district and that the recent building boom and the newcomers in the neighborhood will ensure a prosperous future for the street.

Filling in for outgoing Chairman Sam Pirozzolo, Tony Barsamian, newly elected chairman of the board, presented the membership with the Annual Report, including the $321,000 budget for the coming year. Barsamian noted that the budget reflected a commitment to continue the programs such as marketing/promotion, sanitation, security and holiday lighting while facilitating a sorely needed beautification project to draw new customers and retailers to the street.

During the luncheon that followed, the attendees exchanged ideas for Steinway Street's future enhancement.
