Padavan Honors Local Woman
New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) honored Dr. Charlene Jaffie, Principal of Immaculate Conception School in Jamaica Estates as a 2007 "Woman of Distinction" during a ceremony at the State Capitol. The prestigious award honors women throughout New York state for service to their community along with their personal and professional excellence. Women of Distinction honorees are from all walks of life and are recognized for their courage, integrity and perseverance in improving the lives of all New Yorkers. "Dr. Jaffie is a shining example of service to our community and dedication to the future of countless school children," Padavan said. "It is a privilege to bestow this prestigious award to Dr. Jaffie for her commitment and illustrious work at Immaculate Conception School. For over the past decade she has brought about a new standard of excellence at the school through innovation and inspiring each student to raise their level of academic achievement."As principal of Immaculate Conception School, Dr. Jaffie has boosted enrollment and secured new technologies for the classrooms that has helped students reach new heights of academic excellence. "Dr. Jaffie's work at Immaculate Conception School is remarkable," Padavan said. "The overwhelming outpouring of support and admiration from her colleagues and parents of schoolchildren helped make this honor possible.
