NRG Energy Donates $5K To CALDC Concerts

NRG Energy, Inc., operator of Astoria Gas Turbines, made a $5,000 contribution to the Central Astoria Local Development Coalition (CALDC) Waterfront Concert Series. Committed to providing environmentally responsible electricity, NRG is headquartered in Princeton, New Jersey with powergenerating facilities located nationwide.

Mike Schatz, site manager of Astoria Gas Turbines, presented the contribution to Marie Torniali, CALDC executive director, and George L. Stamatiades, a vice president of both CALDC and the Thomas M. Quinn & Sons Funeral Home.

"NRG's core value system includes being a good neighbor in our local communities," Schatz said. "We are very pleased to support the Central Astoria Waterfront Concerts again this year, the 25th anniversary of this great community event."

The seven free Central Astoria Waterfront Concerts are held on the Astoria waterfront in Astoria Park in July and August. This year's kick-off event will be held on Friday, June 29, at 7:30 p.m. A performance featuring the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra will be followed by a spectacular Grucci fireworks display over the East River.
