Hails Bryant H.S. It was with the greatest of interest that I read the pages of the most informative issue of the Gazette of May 23. I am thrilled to learn that Bryant High School scored A Minus on the evaluation. As a graduate ranking number eight in the graduating class of 800 students in Bryant in 1966 I am deeply proud of the high attendance rate, the high graduation rate and the overall performance of the school. In the time when public schools of this city are being bashed, it is just wonderful to learn that Bryant is doing so well. I applaud the students and the dedicated teachers for a job well done. Bryant is an example of how working together, the goal of educating the young people of today, who will be the future leaders of tomorrow, can be achieved. Congratulations Bryant.
I also was very interested in learning the history of Memorial Day as presented in your May 23 issue. This information will be shared with the discussion group that I conduct weekly at the Dellamonica Senior Center. I am dismayed, though, that having Memorial Day on a Monday creates a long weekend, for partying, beach going, barbecues but the true spirit is somehow, sad to say overlooked. I applaud every person who fought in every war of this nation, so that we can bask in freedom's precious light and bask in the golden sunshine of democracy. Thanks, Gazette, for a wonderful issue of reading material. |
