Say No To Gun Control The shootings at Virginia Tech teach us that we cannot always depend on the police to protect us. It is obvious that if even a few of the victims had been armed, many innocent lives could have been saved. The problem is not the availability of guns nor the transport of guns across state lines. Americans have always had relatively easy access to firearms, so how could this be the cause of mass shootings which are a very recent phenomenon? It is a fact that almost all of the mass shooters, including the Virginia Tech gunman, were under the influence of powerful psychotropic drugs which have unpredictable side effects. This seems a far more likely cause of recent mass shootings. Disgracefully, the tragedy in Virginia is being used by the civilian disarmament lobby to deprive Americans of our right to keep and bear arms, an important right guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution, intended by our Founders to protect us both against common criminals and against tyrannical government. Gun control has no place in America or in any free society. It only serves to disarm the honest citizen, not the criminal. It is the tool of tyrants who wish to subjugate their people. Let us not allow the tragedy in Virginia to be used to support gun control which is a total fraud and a dishonor to our Constitutional heritage. Let Americans retain the right to defend themselves with arms, both against street criminals and against the would-be tyrants in government.
