Queens 'Boys Of Summer' Battle Cancer The New York Mets will host the 2007 annual "Relay For Life" races on Saturday, May 5, from 3 to 9 p.m. at Shea Stadium. The "Relay For Life" program, sponsored by the American Cancer Society (ACS), is described as a "funfilled fundraising event" that brings together those who have been touched by cancer as patients or caregivers, said an ACS spokesperson. Sponsored teams will gather at the Shea Stadium picnic area to take turns walking or running laps around the stadium warming track, the spokesperson said. As in all relay races, teams will attempt to keep at least one member on the track at all times during the competition. "Relay At Shea" will feature a "Survivors Lap", along with assorted family fun and games. The event will also feature a candle ceremony dubbed "Luminaria", the spokesperson said. Registration kicks off at 1:30 p.m. on May 5 at Shea Stadium. Each registered participant will receive a free ticket to an upcoming Mets game.
