Crime of Passion

Queens detectives are searching for a 20-year-old man in connection with the murder of an 18-year-old victim who was found dead in the hallway of her apartment building on April 15.

Shane Thomlinson allegedly killed Shamika Miller, 18, "because he didn't want another man to have her."

Police said Thomlinson, who is currently on parole, showed up at the door of Miller's Jackson Heights apartment on April 15 asking to speak with the victim, who had ended their relationship a day earlier. Family members tried to discourage Thomlinson, but he refused to leave until he spoke with Miller, police sources said. They told police Miller spent more than an hour speaking with Thomlinson on a staircase in the building before they heard a "loud explosion".

Thomlinson is described as a black male, 20-years-old, 5-feet, 9-inches tall and about 145 pounds. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the CRIMESTOPPERS Hotline at 1-800- 577-TIPS. The Hotline is offering a $2,000 reward to anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.- Compiled By Liz Goff
