114th Pct. Undercover Cops Make 5 Prostitution Arrests
COMPILED BY LINDA J. WILSON

On Friday, April 13, at a location chosen based on its history of being a problematic area, a Losing Proposition operation was conducted utilizing undercover trained officers. Five arrests for soliciting a prostitute were effected. The 114th Precinct takes this crime very seriously and will continue to address this qualityof life issue.

On Tuesday, April 17, the 114th Precinct and the Legal Bureau closed a chronic quality-of-life location at 33-18 31st Ave. Stolen property was known to be purchased for resale purposes at this and two other locations, and on January 18 of this year, the location had been the subject of a search warrant, which resulted in two arrests and the seizure of stolen property. The closure took place without incident.

Also on Tuesday, April 17, under the direct supervision of Inspector Brian McCarthy, 114th Precinct commanding officer, the 114th Precinct executed the 17th search warrant of 2007 at 35-19 12th St., resulting in the arrest of eight individuals and confiscation of evidence. This location had been targeted due to intelligence gathered regarding marijuana sales.

The 114th Precinct's 18th and 19th search warrants of 2007 were executed on Thursday, April 19, again under McCarthy's supervision. At 40-10 25th Ave., three individuals were arrested and counterfeit property (clothing and jewelry), along with forfeiture United States currency, was confiscated. At 25-76 Steinway St., three more individuals were arrested and additional counterfeit property (clothing and pocketbooks) was confiscated, along with forfeiture U.S. currency.
