Local Pols March In Greek Independence Day Parade

City Councilmember Peter F. Vallone Jr. (r.) and Assemblymember Mike Gianaris, both of whom represent Astoria, the Queens neighborhood that boasts the largest Greek population outside Greece, marched up 5th Avenue in Manhattan together in the Greek Independence Day Parade April 22. The parade was held a week after its originally scheduled date due to the nor'easter storm that struck the tri-state area on April 15. Exuberant spectator sports a blue and white face that mimics the colors of the Greek flag.
