Criminal Deposits Judge's Check

A 32-year-old Queens Village man was charged on April 14 with depositing a federal judge's paycheck into his own bank account, authorities said.

Prosecutors said they are investigating to determine how Kyle Jackson got the $8,070.16 check belonging to U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Reena Raggi.

According to court records, Jackson opened an account in his name at a Bank of America branch on April 2 and deposited the check on April 3.

Jackson is facing charges that could put him behind bars for seven years, if convicted.

107th Precinct

No Jail Time For 'Swastika Vandal'

A 21-year-old Fresh Meadows man who went on a drunken anti-Semitic graffiti-scrawling spree in May 2005 was sentenced last week to five years probation and 10 days of community service at a Flushing Jewish Center.

James Connolly painted swastikas and other anti-Semitic writings on parked cars throughout Fresh Meadows and will not go to jail for his crime.

108th Precinct

Hunt For Supermarket Bandit

Police in Sunnyside are seeking help from the public to identify and locate a masked bandit who held up a local supermarket at gunpoint on April 12. They claimed the gunman walked into a Met Supermarket on 43rd Avenue near 44th Street at about 11 p.m., where he dropped a duffel bag on a counter and demanded cash from a clerk.

The suspect is described as Hispanic, 20 to 25 years old. Anyone with information is asked to call the Crimestoppers Hotline at 1-800-577- TIPS. The Hotline is offering a $2,000 reward to anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.

Hair Stylist Molests Kid

Police arrested a Sunnyside female hair stylist on April 9 for molesting an 8-year-old girl in her Greenpoint Avenue salon. Cemal Seferouglu, 46, allegedly abused the girl between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. on April 8, while washing and cutting the victim's hair.

When the girl's mother noticed the youngster was upset later that day, she questioned the girl and learned of the abuse. The girl's family called police, who arrested Seferouglu on sexual abuse and child endangerment charges.

Teen Robbery/Assault Suspect Nabbed

Police arrested a Long Island City teenager on April 9 for allegedly kicking and pummeling an acquaintance during a March 21 mugging.

Police said Dominique Williams, 16, and several accomplices attacked the 16-year-old victim on 32nd Place and Queens Boulevard, stealing $100 in cash and her cellphone before fleeing the scene.

Detectives at the 108th Precinct tracked down Williams and arrested her on April 9, when she was charged with robbery and assault.

Security Breach?

Officials charged with maintaining security at the Citicorp Building in Long Island City are reviewing procedures and interviewing personnel to determine how a 21-year-old man bypassed security measures to enter the building on April 5.

Police said Ramsky Irizarry walked into the building at Court Square at about 9:15 a.m. and swiped an employee's pocket book from an office in the tower. The suspect then went into a restroom where he took $20 from the purse and then tried to flee the scene.

When the victim returned to her desk she saw her purse was gone, and spotted Irizarry running from the restroom, she ran after the suspect, who ran right into several Citicorp security guards. Irizarry was charged with burglary and possession of stolen property.

109th Precinct

Hunt Supermarket Thugs

Detectives at the 109th Precinct are searching for two gunmen who held up an Auburndale supermarket on April 7. Police said the suspects walked into a Waldbaum's Supermarket at 46-40 Francis Lewis Blvd. after closing time and forced a manager to open and empty the store safe. The suspects then turned their weapons on store employees while they grabbed an undisclosed amount of cash from a register. They fled in an unknown direction according to the police.

The two men were described as about 30 years old and both had a medium build. They were dressed completely in black at the time of the robbery, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Crimestoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS. The Hotline is offering a $2,000 reward to anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects.

111th Precinct

Can't Bribe These Cops

Police officials handed kudos to cops at the 111th Precinct in Bayside last week, after they busted a drunk driver who offered them a bribe to avoid arrest.

The officers saw Donnel Haskins, 31, driving his 2004 Mercedes at 75th Avenue and 220th Street at about 1:35 a.m. on April 11 when they noticed that the car had only dealer plates. When they stopped Haskins to question him, they became aware that he smelled like he had been drinking. Haskins was arrested and taken to the Bayside precinct for processing.

Officials said that Haskins offered his Mercedes to the officers for their own use "for a few days", if they would let him off the hook.

Haskins was charged with bribery, drunk driving and driving without a license.
