Son Plans Mom's Easter 'Hit'

According to prosecutors, Joseph Salvio a 30-year-old Astoria man who was scheduled for release after serving four months on Rikers Island for possession of an illegal substance was arrested again last week for hiring a hit man on Good Friday to murder his mother on Easter Sunday.

Salvio was videotaped offering an undercover police officer three of his mother's fur coats, worth $10,000, to kill her. "The defendant, in hiring a hit man to kill his own mother for his personal greed, violated almost every ethical and moral code of our society," Queens Assistant District Attorney Jason Garelick, said.

Salvio, has a history of drug-related arrests and a long history of bitter conflicts with his 54-year-old mother, Susan Allogramento sources revealed. He allegedly wanted to get rid of his mother so he would inherit her Queens condo and upstate home, along with the proceeds from her life insurance policy.

While serving time Salvio supposedly told another inmate he wanted to hire a hit man to murder his mother. He planned on using his incarceration in Rikers as an airtight alibi. During the meeting with the undercover police officer, Salvio gave the cop his mother's address and phone number, and said the murder should look like a botched robbery. Salvio went so far as to suggest that his mother's boyfriend should get a "real beating" if he was in the condo at the time of the murder, law enforcement sources said.

"The defendant, an only child, allegedly solicited an individual whom he thought to be a hit man to kill his mother," Queens District Attorney Richard Brown, said.

"Unfortunately for him, the hit man was an undercover police officer and their conversation- detailing the alleged plot- was being secretly recorded," Brown said.

Salvio was charged with conspiracy to commit murder and was held without bail at his arraignment on April 10 at Queens Criminal Court. He faces up to 25 years to life in prison, if convicted.- Liz Goff
