Seniors Thank Sabini For Funding Assistance
The Northridge/Southridge/Brulene Naturally Occurring Retirement community (NORC), with its sponsoring agency Selfhelp Community Services, recently held an event to thank Senator John Sabini for helping them get $74,490 in funds from the state Office for the Aging. Sabini, who as a city councilmember provided the initial funding for the Jackson Heights-East Elmhurst-based NORC to begin operating, said the latest grant will be used to enhance leisure and fitness activities, provide mental health services and supply personal emergency response systems to homebound seniors. With Sabini is Selfhelp Vice President for Senior Communities Grace Nierenberg.
