16-Year-Old Girl Robs Bank In Astoria A 16-year-old girl walked into the Commerce Bank branch at 31-09 Ditmars Blvd. shortly before 1 p.m. on Friday afternoon and passed a note to a teller demanding cash. When the teller walked away from the counter, the girl fled. A few minutes later, the same girl entered the First Central Savings Bank branch at 37-28 Ditmars Blvd. and again passed a note to a teller demanding cash. The teller complied and the girl fled the bank and passed the money off to a white male who fled the scene on foot. The girl was detained until the police responded. Chrystie Almestica, who lives on 28th Street in Astoria, is charged with attempted bank robbery, bank robbery, and menacing. As of press time the male suspect had not been arrested. According to reports, Almestica allegedly claimed the male suspect had coerced her into committing the robbery. The investigation is ongoing. 114th Police Precinct Blotter Tuesday, January 2: + A 19-year-old Hispanic male was charged with aggravated unlicensed operator and failure to obey a traffic device after he was observed disobeying a double yellow line and, when stopped at 25-84 Steinway St., was found to have a suspended license. + A 41-year-old male was charged with disorderly conduct after he was observed blocking vehicular traffic at 38th Street and Astoria Boulevard. + A 38-year-old male was charged with assault and harassment at the 114th Precinct station house, 34-16 Astoria Blvd., after he punched a pregnant woman in the face, ear and stomach. + At Newtown Road and 49th Street, a 35- year-old Hispanic male was found in possession of two forged registration stickers and was charged with forgery. Wednesday, January 3: + A 23-year-old white male was observed operating a vehicle that lacked a driver's side mirror and without his wearing a seatbelt. When he was stopped at 25-31 37th St., he fled while the vehicle was still in gear, causing the vehicle to go forward onto the sidewalk and into a metal gate. He was apprehended and found in possession of gloves. The vehicle and the license plates were found to be stolen. He was charged with grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property, criminal mischief, reckless endangerment, unauthorized use of a vehicle, possession of burglar's tools, an equipment violation, unlicensed operator and a seatbelt violation. + A 29-year-old white male was observed looking at a vehicle at 33rd Road and 11th Street. When police approached, he dropped a gravity knife to the ground. He was found in possession of multiple screwdriver bits and was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and possession of burglar's tools. + A 24-year-old Hispanic male was observed loitering on property at Broadway and 14th Street and was found in possession of a forged New York state ID. He was charged with possession of a forged instrument and loitering. + At 44-04 Northern Blvd., a 33-year-old black male threatened a victim, stating he had a gun. He was charged with menacing; he did not have a gun. + A 16-year-old white male was observed lighting a marijuana cigarette in public at 28-04 44th St. When he was arrested, he offered money to be released. He was charged with criminal possession of marijuana and bribery. + A 21-year-old Hispanic male was observed at 53rd Place and 32nd Avenue with an open container of beer in public and was unable to produce identification. He was charged with having an open container of an alcoholic beverage in public. + A 28-year-old Hispanic male was observed swerving over double yellow lines into oncoming traffic and excessively honking his vehicle's horn. When he was stopped at 53rd Place and 32nd Avenue, he was found to be hiding a bottle of beer and exhibited signs of intoxication. He was charged with reckless endangerment, DWI, disorderly conduct, unlicensed operator, failure to obey a traffic device, failure to produce valid insurance and illegally signaling. + A 30-year-old Hispanic male was observed operating a vehicle with a broken taillight. When he was stopped at 34-53 43rd St., he was found to have a suspended license. He was charged with aggravated unlicensed operator. + A 53-year-old Asian male was charged with prohibited sale of alcohol and unlawful dealing to a child after he sold alcohol to a minor at 27-19 21st St. + A 48-year-old Asian male was charged with prohibited sale of alcohol and unlawful dealing to a child after he sold alcohol to a minor at 21-12 Ditmars Blvd. + A 16-year-old Asian male was charged with prohibited sale of alcohol and unlawful dealing to a child after he sold alcohol to a minor at 45-07 30th Ave. + Two Asian males 16 and 17 years old were observed on property at 28-09 Ditmars Blvd. without permission or authority. Both were charged with criminal trespass. |
