Mr. Met Helps Raise $60K For Ronald McDonald House

Mr. Met joins in revels with children at the annual "Friends and Family" fundraising event held at Astoria World Manor to benefit the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island.
New York Mets mascot Mr. Met was a big hit at the "Friends and Family" fundraising event held each year to benefit Ronald McDonald House of Long Island. Clad in his blue and white Met uniform and sporting his blue Met cap, Mr. Met kicked up his heels and danced with children of all ages. The event, which attracted Ronald McDonald House of Long Island supporters from Long Island, Queens and Brooklyn to Astoria World Manor in Astoria, raised nearly $60,000 for Ronald McDonald House of Long Island. Board of Directors Vice President Theresa Brucculeri and her husband, Jack, were event coordinators.

Ronald McDonald House of Long Island is home away from home for families caring for seriously ill children who are undergoing medical treatment in area hospitals. Located on the campus of Schneider Children's Hospital, the house accommodates families in a warm and supportive environment. Since it opened in 1986, more than 9,500 families from the United States and more than 62 countries around the world have been served. Most families are from Nassau and Suffolk Counties, as well as from the five boroughs of New York City.
