York College Women Take It
      The York College women's basketball team got off to a strong start in their conference schedule as they defeated Brooklyn College, 65-53, on Tuesday, December 4. The Lady Cardinals improved to 3-4, 1-0 in the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC).

      The York College men's basketball team lost to Brooklyn College, 83-74, in their City University of New York Athletic Conference opener. The Cardinals nearly overcame a 23-point halftime deficit, but fell just short in the end.

Jets, NYMEX, Boost Flag Football At I.S. 204
      On Tuesday, December 4, New York Jets President Jay Cross and Jets Defensive End Shaun Ellis joined New York City Schools Chancellor Joel Klein in visiting I.S. 204 in Long Island City, where Cross and Ellis presented a check for $50,000 to the New York City Department of Education to support the DOE C.H.A.M.P.S. Middle School Flag Football Program.

Garden School Student Reaches 1,000-Point Basketball Milestone
      Sid Menon, a Forest Hills resident and student at Garden School, an independent school in Jackson Heights, accumulated 1,000 points in his basketball career on Dec. 7, 2007 in a varsity game against Brooklyn Friends. Menon grew up in Singapore and first encountered a basketball in 2000. As a senior, he now averages more than 28 points in a game.

Jets Fall To Cleveland Browns In 4th Quarter, 24-18
      On December 9, a cold, windy, overcast Sunday afternoon marked with freezing rain, the New York Jets hosted the Cleveland Browns at Giants Stadium in a matchup that had meaning for both teams. A win for the Jets would have meant a two-game wining streak; a victory for the Browns would bring them closer to post-season play.
