Mets Hold Holiday Coat Drive

The Queens Boys of Summer are planning a winter warm-up to help those most in need.

The New York Mets last week announced the team's second annual "Mets Warm-Up Holiday Coat Drive", sponsored in conjunction with SportsNet New York (SNY), express courier DHL and New York Cares.

"Gently used" coats can be donated on December 12 and 13 at the Diamond Club entrance at Shea Stadium (between Gates C and D), from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Parking will be available at Lot X8 off Marina circle.

Those making donations will receive a voucher redeemable for two tickets to a select Mets home game during April 2008- the start of the final season of play at Shea Stadium.

All coats collected through the drive will be donated to New York Cares, a local nonprofit group that serves more than 100 diverse nonprofits, public schools and other organizations throughout the metropolitan area.

Since 1989, New York Cares has collected more than one million coats and donated them to homeless shelters, senior agencies and community organizations.
