Three Queens Student Athletes Earn PSAL Awards

PSAL Executive Director Donald Douglas, joined by Alan Blank, PSAL Director of Player Eligibility, announced different categories of PSAL Boy Varsity season leaders. The season leaders announcement took place during halftime of the Cup Division Championship game between John Adams H.S. (Queens) and Wadleigh High School (Manhattan). Three Queens high school football players were honored for their accomplishments.

Jordan Beranger, the leading rusher for Flushing H.S., was named the Cup Division top punt return leader. Beranger averaged 26.4 yards per punt return. He also rushed for 579 yards and three touchdowns while receiving 217 yards and scoring two more touchdowns though the air. Beranger is a sophomore and will be back for two more seasons with Flushing.

Martin Garces, a junior from Info Tech H.S., Long Island City, was the sack leader, tallying 15 sacks for the season. Garces also added seven fumble recoveries and 104 tackles to his impressive defensive team leading stats.

Willis William Reyes, a senior from Bryant H.S., Astoria, led all defenders with six interceptions. Reyes, a senior from Astoria, also had 14 tackles and one fumble recovery, which he ran in for a touchdown.

Each student athlete was presented with a plaque delineating his accomplishments.
