the international flavor of the neighborhood it

Ten cozy booths and several bistro tables rest on clean, terrazzo tile floors surrounded by wood wainscot walls with pretty European tile accents. The service is fast and friendly and owner Spiro Kasimis welcomes guests personally. Starting at 6am, breakfast is sizzling with bacon, eggs, omelets, French toast, Belgian waffles and more to eat in or to go on your way, as the 7 train zooms overhead. Breakfast here is so good, it is served anytime of day, with the kitchen closing at midnight.
Lunchtime features a host of fresh salads, sandwiches and soups to satisfy any appetite. Foxy's Specialty Sandwiches include a turkey "foxini". This mile-high sandwich is piled high with fresh roasted turkey, swiss cheese, bacon and mayo on grilled bread for a satisfying lunch or even dinner ($7.25). The crab cake sandwich requires two hands for the hefty crab cake full of sweet crab meat and spices, served on a bun with tartar sauce and a side of roasted peppers and mixed greens ($8.95). Try a Foxy Waldorf salad with mixed greens, sliced chicken, dried cranberries, walnuts diced apple and crumbled bleu cheese. The Popeye salad tosses fresh baby spinach with bacon, sliced eggs and marinated artichokes. These salads are fresh, delicious and satisfying for lunch or dinner.
Speaking of dinner, Foxy's Diner is a great after-work spot for dinner with that "home-cooked" flavor. Mr. Kasimis has incorporated internationally inspired dishes into the menu, as well as diner classics that you know and love. We started with an appetizer called Mexicana stuffed potato skins. These crispy skins were filled with their house made chili, melted cheese and spicy jalapeno peppers that added just the right spark. Another popular appetizer is the panko coconut shrimp. Tender jumbo shrimp are butterflied then rolled in panko (Japanese bread crumbs), and shredded coconut. A few seconds in the fryer and these shrimp are light, crispy and very flavorful, especially when dipped in the accompanying sesame ginger dip ($7.95). Foxy's steamed mussels are cooked with garlic, wine and tomato, with some extra flair from corn that
Dinner entrées include sautéed special such as "Sunnyside Chicken" with sun-dried tomato pesto, mushrooms and goat cheese ($14.95). "Elf Greco Shrimp" are made with fresh garlic, olive oil and a crumble of feta cheese. Where Foxy's Diner outdoes itself is in the nightly special. Ingredients purchased at their peak of freshness and flavor go into the daily special which may include sweet chili tilapia fish, atop sautéed baby spinach. "The Blues" pork chops are topped with melted gorgonzola
cheese, caramelized onions and served with fireroasted red pepper mashed potatoes. The new twist on old classics is something you wouldn't expect but certainly love. "Smokin' Hot" ovenbaked lasagna provides layer upon layer of delicious melted ingredients. A hearty dish of penne pasta is prepared with fresh shrimp, mussels, goat cheese and baby spinach, garlic and oil for just $12.50. Of course, classic burgers are also cooked to order, served sizzling hot, thick and juicy with steak cut fries.
We were very impressed with the high quality ingredients, fresh, imaginative dishes and beautiful presentation of each course prepared. Do try and save room for one of Foxy Diner's fabulous desserts. House made lemon meringue pie, cheese cake and something called chocolate brownie surprise with ice cream, cherries and granola will keep you coming back for more. A price-fixed Brunch is offered on Saturdays and Sundays from 11am to 5pm for just $8.95. Enjoy a mimosa or beverage along with banana-caramel French toast, Chipotle Irish-Mex eggs Benedict or Belgian berries and Nutella waffles.
For delicious breakfast, lunch, brunch, dinner or late night snack, Foxy's Diner is open seven days a week from 6 am to midnight. They offer free delivery and full catering services.
