Sabini Holds Workshops

With hurricane and blackout season under way, state Senator John Sabini held a series of workshops on disaster and emergency preparedness in his Western Queens district recently. The four workshops, in Jackson Heights, Corona, East Elmhurst and Lefrak City, were conducted by experts from the American Red Cross and featured a handout of free "safety tubes" funded by Sabini. The tubes, meant to serve as a starter kit for a larger "go bag", contain a whistle, purified water pouch, dust mask and portable light stick. Those attending the workshop at the Elmcor Lefrak City Senior Center (shown) also received a bag of literature that included an interactive CD-ROM presentation about emergency preparedness, produced in partnership with the New York City Office of Emergency Management.
