Grocery Bandits Sought

Police are searching for a pair of thieves who pulled off an armed robbery at a Bellerose grocery store on July 18. The unidentified suspects burst into Dino's Deli on Braddock Avenue at about 5:40 p.m., where they threatened store employees and struck a 36-year-old clerk in the head with a pistol. The pair then grabbed an undisclosed amount of cash from a store register and fled in an unknown direction, police said.

The suspects were described as black, males, 35 to 42 years old. One suspect was wearing a white shirt, blue jeans and a white baseball hat at the time of the holdup; the other suspect was wearing a blue jacket and a black baseball hat, police said.

Fatal Shooting On Jewel Avenue

Queens detectives are seeking help from the public to identify and locate a gunman who shot and killed a 26-year-old man in front of a Jewel Avenue apartment building on July 18.

Eyewitnesses said the gunman suddenly appeared and opened fire at about 10:20 p.m. outside 155-19 Jewel Ave., striking Brian Page several times in the torso. The victim was taken to New York Hospital of Queens, where he died a short while later.

Man Menaces Kids With Crowbar Police arrested a 21-year-old Queens man on July 14 after he threatened to kill three Holliswood boys with a crowbar.

Police said Roy Sipel chased and menaced the boys ages 11, 12 and 14 with the crowbar on Dunton Avenue near Dunton Street at about 5 p.m. They said Sipel chased the boys shouting, "I'm going to f- -ing kill you". Area residents who witnessed the incident called 911.

Police from the 107 Precinct arrested Sipel, who is facing menacing, child endangerment and weapons charges.

109th Precinct

Campus Crooks Busted

Two Queens men were charged last week for allegedly stealing $15,000 worth of books from the Queens College bookstore.

Authorities said Johnny Lopez, 20 and Miguel Paredes, 26, were caught on a July 18 surveillance tape selling back more than $400 worth of stolen textbooks to the college bookstore on Kissena Boulevard.

A clerk who recognized the stolen textbooks alerted the store manager. The store manager reviewed the tape and alerted police, who tracked down and arrested the pair on July 18. Lopez and Paredes were charged with burglary and criminal possession of stolen property.

Another person, as yet unapprehended, was seen on store surveillance tapes stealing books from the store on June 29.

111th Precinct

Teens Avenge Sister's Treatment

Police arrested two Queens teenagers on July 13 after they beat and robbed a local man to avenge his alleged mistreatment of their sister, sources said.

Police said Craig Davis and Tramaine Stevens, both 18, accosted the victim at the intersection of Francis Lewis and Northern Boulevards, where they pushed him to the pavement and shouted, "What did you do to my sister?" Davis and Stevens then grabbed the victim's wallet and cell phone and fled the scene, police sources said.

Cops responding to a series of 911 calls obtained the suspects' descriptions, and the pair was arrested during a subsequent canvass of the area.

Davis and Stevens were charged with assault, robbery and criminal possession of stolen property.

Hunt For Bayside Gunmen

Police in Bayside are searching for two gunmen who attacked a man on July 16.

The two suspects jumped from bushes outside the victim's home on 217th Street and attacked the man as he attempted to enter the house. The pair brandished a pistol and demanded cash from the victim, grabbed the victim's wallet and cellphone and fled, according to the police.

115th Precinct

JH Teen Steals Mom's Laptop

Police officers assigned to the Queens Warrant Squad busted a 19-year-old Jackson Heights man on July 15 after he swiped a laptop computer at gunpoint from a young mother.

Johnny Gomez brandished the gun as he broke into the woman's home on 83rd Street and 25th Avenue at about 9 p.m. on July 8. Once inside the residence, Gomez demanded cash and the computer from the 25-yearold woman, who was holding her year-old son throughout the incident, police sources said.

The woman later picked Gomez out of a photo lineup. He was arrested by police at the Queens Warrant Squad and charged with burglary, robbery and criminal possession of a weapon.
