103-22 Metropolitan Avenue + Forest Hills (718) 575-8999
by Teresa Barile

Sally Dee's Steak and Chop House has come to Sarabella on Metropolitan Avenue in Forest Hills. Sarabella Bistro and Grille serves the finest quality Italian dishes around, all made from scratch

with fresh ingredients. Amiable owner

Danny Sollenne is proud to announce the arrival of Sally Dee's Steak and Chop House within the environs of this pleasant restaurant. "This is a unique concept," declares Sollenne, "where a sophisticated steak and chop house has a specially appointed area within a fine Italian restaurant." Everyone wins with this beautiful marriage of fine food, wine and great service.

Sally Dee is a legendary entertainer who performs at Sarabella every Tuesday and Friday with his "Sounds of Sinatra". His world class steaks and chops include a 24-ounce Porterhouse that looks good enough to eat raw, and the 16-ounce NY Angus strip will make your mouth water and the prices are lower than some famous steak restaurants. Tender veal chops, French cut lamb chops and double cut pork chops are all cooked to order and served with creamed spinach, house salad, mashed potatoes or home fries. Diners may choose a traditional steak dinner in the specially designated area of Sarabella, or for those who want dishes from both menus you can choose a comfortable table in the spacious dining room that holds 145 people.

piano. Fridays feature the Sounds of Sinatra,

Saturday offers live piano and vocals to go with

your memorable meal and Sunday's Jazz

Brunch has them waiting for tables. As if this

weren't reason enough to visit Sarabella, the fine Italian cuisine is the star of the show and

keeps customers coming back for more.

Artichokes are a harbinger of spring and we enjoyed a tender one, stuffed with savory bread crumbs, seasonings and garlic. As we peeled away to the heart, we munched on crisp bruschetta and slices of cured salami, provolone and olives. Our professional waiter described specials of the evening which included veal shank osso buco. The tender meat on this massive shank surrendered easily from the bone, releasing its savory juices onto the bed of toothsome risotto below. Freshly made ravioli were stuffed with eggplant and topped with plump shrimp and baby asparagus in a light sauce of garlic and oil. Red snapper fillet was prepared Mediterranean style with a touch of tomato, onion and black olives. Another tempting dish combined chicken medallions with cognac sauce, accompanied by creamy mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach.

The menu covers all your favorite pasta dishes such as linguine with clam sauce or juicy shrimp. Pappardelle with rich mushroom sauce or house made lasagna are also popular choices. Chicken or veal Marsala or Francese are all fork-tender and mouth watering, served with roasted potatoes and fresh vegetables. Wednesday is Lobster Night and one can enjoy a one and a half pound lobster with three pastas and a glass of wine for just $28.95. If you prefer to eat light, try a crunchy Caesar salad topped with either grilled chicken, salmon, shrimp or tuna. Crispy crust individual pizzas are available as well, with your choice of toppings. These are popular for lunch or for dinner with the kids.

Sarabella provides expert catering for your private affair. There is a private party room on the lower level which is an ideal venue for a rehearsal dinner, graduation, anniversary or business function. Choose your menu and leave the rest to the expert staff. Sarabella plays host to the Rotary Club each week, as well as other social and community events.

"Make every day a Sarabella day," says Danny Sollenne. With something special happening six nights a week, it's always a good time to visit with friends and family and enjoy Sally Dee's Steak and Chop House and Sarabella's fine Italian cuisine. Tuesday night is Karaoke night, Wednesdays feature Colleen at the piano, Thursday is psychic night, offering dinner and a personal reading, Friday is the Sounds of Sinatra, Saturdays swing with piano and vocals and Sunday's jazz brunch finishes the week.

Sarabella is open six days a week for lunch, dinner and lots of special events. Weekend reservations are suggested for this unique dining experience. For fine food, wine and great service in a jovial setting, visit Sarabella Bistro and Grille, now featuring Sally Dee's Steak and Chop House.
