Damon Runyon's Broadway came to life on the stage of I.S. 10, the Horace Greeley Junior High School, in Long Island City last Thursday and Friday when the school presented its second annual spring musical, "Guys and Dolls". Students in sixth, seventh and eighth grades played all parts, including Harold Bartolme as Nicely-Nicely Johnson, Astrid Sosa as Sarah Brown, Myles Wills as Nathan Detroit, Tatania Duarte as Miss Adelaide and Deanna DuPre, daughter of Gazette General Manager Vinny DuPre, who played one of the Dolls. Eighth-grade students In Hwan Cho and Kevin Peterson served as stage manager and assistant technical director, respectively. Art Teacher Christina Sussman directed; Dean Nancy DePoalo served as production assistant and teacher Joey Khoury was musical director.

In "A Letter from the Director" printed in the program, Sussman applauded the enthusiasm and commitment to the project of cast and crew. "I was blessed with kids who were ready to work," she said. She also thanked other members of the I.S. 10 faculty and administration, Ellen Lieberman of Dandelion Productions for lending sound and lighting equipment, Music Theatre International, Arts Connection and the Office of Arts and Special Projects.
