Musical and religious harmony was celebrated at the Free Synagogue of Flushing's second inter-religious choral festival this past Sunday as community leaders, choirs, soloists and dancers from local houses of worship took part in the gala event. The synagogue's Cantor Steven Pearlston and choral groups from the Calvary World Mission Church, Church on the Hill, Hindu Temple Society of North America, International Buddhist Progress Society of New York, Macedonia A.M.E Church, St. George's Episcopal Church, and St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church entertained the audience with musical interpretations in praise of God. Senator Toby Ann Stavisky presented a proclamation to Sheila Tower, Free Synagogue of Flushing events coordinator, for their years of community commitment. The synagogue, a fixture at 41-60 Kissena Blvd. since 1917 will be celebrating their 90th year anniversary with upcoming events. For more information, call 718-961-0030.
