Queensbridge Robbery Suspect Arrested

A 40-year-old black man was arrested and charged with robbery and criminal possession of stolen property last week, 12 days after he allegedly followed a woman into a building at the Queensbridge Houses and robbed, punched and attempted to choke her.

On Wednesday, March 7, PSA 9 anticrime officers arrested Jerome Harris, whose address was given as 41-08 12th St., Long Island City, and charged him with robbery and criminal possession of stolen property in connection with an incident on February 26.

Police of the 114th Precinct reported that at approximately five minutes to 11 p.m. on February 26, a 35-year-old Hispanic woman was returning home from work when she was followed into a building at 41-03 Vernon Blvd. by a man later identifid as Harris. The man, approximately 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing about 185 pounds, who was wearing a black Carrhardt jacket, blue jeans, a black knit cap and work boots, followed her into an elevator where he punched and attempted to choke her before fleeing the elevator with the victim's purse. The woman was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital of Queens, where she was listed in stable condition.
