LIRR Brass Donate To Penn Station Coat Drive

MTA Long Island Rail Road Acting President Ray Kenny, LIRR Commuters Council Chairman Gerard Bringmann and Permanent Citizens Advisory Committee Associate Director William Henderson were joined by New York Cares Executive Director Ariel Zwang as they donate coats to help raise awareness of the New York Cares Coat Drive at Penn Station throughout the month of December. The Metropolitan Transit Authority Long Island Rail Road once again has teamed up with New York Cares this holiday season to collect coats at Penn Station to help out individuals in need of a warm winter coat. Throughout the month of December, volunteers from New York Cares are collecting coats in the 34th Street Entrance Corridor area of Penn Station near the escalators from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. each weekday, with the exception of Christmas Day. Clean, wearable gently used winter overcoats, jackets and parkas for adults and children are needed. Last year, more than 10,000 coats were collected at Penn Station during the drive. New York Cares is a nonprofit, volunteer organization. Coats collected in the drive will be distributed to men, women and children at homeless shelters, agencies serving seniors and community organizations throughout the New York area. For information on additional coat collection sites, visit www.nycares.org or call 212-402-1173.
