SJU Greek Club Holds 2nd Dinner Dance Cancer Benefit

The St. John's University Greek Club held its second annual dinner dance November 19 at Riccardo's By The Bridge, at 21-01 24th Ave., Astoria. All proceeds were donated to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital Breast Cancer Department. A DJ, excellent food and a raffle made the evening enjoyable. Koula Sopasis of Greek Radio 365 was an honored guest.

"Community service is part of our college experience at St. John's," Greek Club President Irene Zouroudis said. "Our society is involved in philanthropic causes, besides having fun." The SJU Greek Club was also responsible for the success of the St. John's University second annual Evening of Greek Cuisine and Culture on October 13 that attracted 300 people.

Currently, the SJU Greek Club, with the Pan-Arcadian Association "Geros Tou Morea" Chapter and the SJU Modern Greek Language and Literature Program, is co-sponsoring the third annual Greek Independence Day Cultural Event on Thursday evening, Feb. 22, 2007 at 7 p.m. The theme is "The Olympic Spirit in Gymnastics".
