NYPA Officials Will Join UCCA Holiday Gathering

The New York Power Authority (NYPA) is a supporter of the United Community Civic Association (UCCA) and will join in the UCCA annual holiday gathering on Sunday, December 10. The event, to begin at noon at the La Guardia Marriott Hotel, gives Astoria's community leaders and residents a chance to come together and enjoy holiday festivities as a communal family.

"NYPA has always been counted on to rally to the assistance of community events whenever possible and we look forward to continuing our support," Joseph Leary, NYPA director of public and governmental affairs for Southeastern New York, said.

NYPA uses no tax money or state credit. It finances its operations through the sale of bonds and revenues earned in large part through sales of electricity. NYPA is a leader in promoting energy efficiency, new energy technologies and electric transportation initiatives. It is the nation's largest state-owned electric utility, with 18 generating facilities in various parts of the state and more than 1,400 circuitmiles of transmission lines.
