Cops Look For Purse Thieves, Find Gambling
BY LINDA J. WILSON

A search for purse-snatchers at a local laundromat yielded cigarettes, knives and money and uncovered an illegal gambling operation. On Tuesday, November 21 at approximately 1:30 p.m. under the direct supervision of 114th Police Precinct Commanding Officer Inspector Brian McCarthy, the 34th search warrant of 2006 was executed at Bubbles Laundromat, 3-13 27th Ave., after eight purses left unattended in the laundromat were reported stolen. The thefts constituted grand larcenies.

Operations were conducted, but without success. However, recent observations disclosed untaxed cigarettes sales being carried out by the employees of the laundromat. Due to investigative efforts undertaken, a search warrant was issued and executed. One arrest was made. Evidence confiscated included $969, cigarettes and knives.

While conducting the search warrant, police found two other persons with gambling paraphernalia and records in plain view in an adjacent room. Two additional arrests were made and $6,926 was processed for forfeiture. 114th Police Precinct Blotter
