Protest McMansions In Bellerose:

State Senator Frank Padavan

R-C, Bellerose) and community activists in Bellerose in Northeast Queens recently held a protest rally against overcrowding and overdevelopment in their residential area from construction of illegal homes called McMansions.

Padavan said, "With McMansions popping up all over the borough and illegal two-family houses endangering the welfare of our neighborhoods, it is important to address this problem quickly.

"I encourage the City Council to take action on these issues as I have begun to do on the state level. As public servants, it is our duty to protect the residents of New York and its character."

The McMansion problem has arisen in other parts of Northeast Queens as developers buy up normal size one-family homes on large plots and then build oversized homes which are out of character with surrounding low-profile homes.
