Maloney Hails 'Nurse-Ins':

Congressmember Carolyn Maloney, who authored the law guaranteeing the rights to women to breast-feed on federal property, recently hailed the advocates and new mothers who staged nurse-ins at Delta Airlines ticket counters around the United States.

The nurse-ins were initiated after Delta employees removed a nursing mother and her family from one of its flights.

"I commend the women who are out at airports all over the country today to help make sure that women can breast-feed if they choose to," Maloney (D-Queens/Manhattan) said.

"Breast-feeding is healthy and natural," she continued, "and women who choose to breast-feed their children should not be discouraged, regardless if they are at home, at work or on an airplane. This incident again shows that we need to do more to back women who choose to breast-feed in this country-which is exactly what my Breast-feeding Promotion Act would do."
