Save-The-Gym Rally At City Hall

Young athletes from throughout the city rallied last Friday at City Hall to reopen the gymnasium in the Flushing Armory so that they can continue to train for championship competition which will be ending soon.

City Councilmember John Liu (D-Flushing) appealed to Mayor Michael Bloomberg to save the PSAL gymnastics championship season by reopening the gymnasium, which was shut down abruptly about a month ago.

"Their sudden eviction from the Armory left these dedicated athletes without the world-class championship training facility they have called home for over ten years," Liu said.
