Santa, Mrs. Claus Visit Astoria November 20 Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will make their first visit to the Astoria area this year on Monday, November 20 at 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Steinway Street and Broadway. Santa's appearance coincides with the traditional lighting of the holiday tree. Children will have the opportunity to visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, who will give them each a free book. Parents should bring cameras to capture this wonderful holiday moment. Santa's arrival is sponsored by the Central Astoria Local Development Coalition (CALDC) in conjunction with the Steinway Street Business Improvement District, the Broadway-Astoria Merchants & Professionals Association, the 30th Avenue Business Association and the 36th Avenue Merchants with the cooperation of the Queens Borough Public Library. Santa's visit also ushers in Astoria's holiday shopping season. Shop Astoria for the holidays. Most stores are open late and on Sunday now through Christmas for shopping convenience. This event is funded in part by City Councilmember Peter Vallone Jr. through a grant from the New York City Department of Small Business Services. For more information, call CALDC at 718 728-7820 or visit www.centralastoria. org. |
