40 Inducted Into St. John's Prep National Honor Society

On Thursday, October 19, 40 students were inducted into the St. John's Preparatory School Chapter of the National Honor Society in a traditional candlelight ceremony. This number includes six students who are spending their senior year as full-time students at St. John's University in the 5/7 year program. Officers for the 2006-2007 year are Maria Gambino, president, Philip Jocelyn, vice president, Angela Meloni, secretary and Benny Cotiletta, treasurer.
In her address, Gambino focused on leadership and defined a leader as one who "essentially creates his or her own path, and then assures it is one of righteousness before directing others". Vice- President Philip Jocelyn said that character is "the product of daily striving to make the right choice.". In her address, Secretary Angela Meloni focused on scholarship Treasurer Benny Cotiletta closed his address with the words of poet R. Tagore: "I slept and dreamed that life was joy...I awoke and saw that life was service...I acted and beheld that service was joy."
