Department Of Education Has New Student Requirements
available at each Center. Three of the centers are in Queens. The New Student High School Registration Centers provide incoming high school students with the latest and most complete information about enrollment options. New high school students should enroll only at these 15 Centers. Enrollment staff at each Center will meet with students and their parents to determine an appropriate high school placement, based on the student's needs and interests and the available space citywide. Elementary and middle school students will continue to register at their zoned schools, or, if they do not have a zoned school, at the Regional Learning Support Center for the region in which they reside. The 15 New Student High School Registration Centers will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. through September 29. The Court Square Conference Center location in Queens will remain open until 7 p.m. from Tuesday, September 5 through Thursday, September 7. New Student High School Registration Center locations are : Thomas A. Edison Career And Technical Education H.S., 165-65 84th Ave. Courthouse Square Conference Center, 45-18 Court Square P.S. 254, 84-40 101st St. Bring the following documents with you to the registration center- no exceptions. Birth certificate, passport, or baptismal certificate; Proof of address, which may be verified by: - A utility bill (gas, electric, or water); - A deed to a house; - A document from the New York City Housing Authority or Human Resources Administration; - A medical or insurance card; or - Verification from an employer, social service agency, communitybased organization, or religious institution. (A telephone bill, driver's license, or lease are not accepted as proof of address.); Immunization history, and Transcript or latest report card (recommended, not required). If the student is entitled to special education services, the most recent copy of the child's Individualized Education Program (IEP) should be provided, if available.
