In political campaign developments yesterday, state Senator John Sabini was endorsed by several black officials and community leaders. His primary opponent, City Councilmember Hiram Monserrate, was endorsed by former Bronx Borough President Fernando Ferrer.
Sabini (D-Jackson Heights), whose district includes black voter enclaves in East Elmhurst and Lefrak City, was endorsed by state Senate Minority Leader David Patterson, the Democratic candidate for lieutenant governor; city Comptroller William C. Thompson Jr.; Queens Borough President Helen Marshall; Assemblymember Jeffrion Aubry, and several others.
Ferrer, in endorsing Monserrate, said his record of reform and results "means the days are numbered for the status quo in Albany."-John Toscano
