Queens Borough President Helen Marshall went to the Playground for All Children in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park last Thursday, August 24 to watch youngsters in recreational programs using supplies she purchased with funds from her office and to honor Queens Playground Associates, parents and youngsters. Marshall's expense dollars supported the city Parks Department's Playground Associate program at 36 sites in Queens. The borough president also provided $3.8 million for the building of the Playground for All Children, located at 111th Street and Corona Avenue.
Marshall was presented with a colorful handmade paper "necklace" made by some of the youngsters. She had allocated $10,000 to buy everything from crayons, spangles and sequins to beads, glitter and clothespins so youngsters could make use of such arts and crafts programs in parks across the borough.
