Astorian Receives National Honor

The National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS) selected Valerie A. Pallos, from Astoria, for membership.The announcement was made by NSHSS Founder and Chairman Claes Nobel, senior member of the Nobel Prize family.

Pallos, currently attending Townsend Harris H.S., was nominated because of her exemplary academic record and strong desire to enter the field of medicine. By accepting the nomination for the 2006 Forum on Medicine, she will be one of a select group of high school scholars chosen to participate in the National Youth Leadership Forum distinguishing her as one of the nation's outstanding young leaders of tomorrow.

Nobel, chairman and founder of NSHSS said: "On behalf of NSHSS, I am honored to recognize the hard work, sacrifice, and commitment that Valerie has demonstrated to achieve this exceptional level of academic excellence," Nobel said. "Valerie is now a member of a unique community of scholars-a community that represents our very best hope for the future."
