114th Precinct Cops Get Warrants, Close 2 Locations

On Wednesday, June 21 at approximately 7:30 p.m., under the supervision of 114th Police Precinct Commanding Officer Deputy Inspector Brian McCarthy, the 114th Precinct and the Legal Bureau closed two quality of life locations, at 3420 30th Ave. and 33-10 31st Ave. The 30th Avenue location had been the subject of a search warrant due to illegally reproduced goods; the other location had been the subject of a search warrant resulting in the seizure of untaxed cigarettes.

Investigations were conducted and presented to the Legal Bureau, which issued a court order to close both locations. The officers of the 114th Precinct continue to take proactive measures to rid Astoria of quality of life issues. 114th Police Precinct Blotter

Tuesday, June 20:

+ A 26-year-old Hispanic man was observed driving erratically without headlights on and drifting over the double yellow line into oncoming traffic. When he was stopped at 51st Street and Northern Boulevard, he exhibited signs of intoxication. He was charged with DWI.

+ A 42-year-old Hispanic man was observed using a cell phone while driving. When he was pulled over at 40th Avenue and 29th Street, he produced a suspended license. He was charged with aggravated unlicensed operator and driving while using a cell phone.

+ A 16-year-old black male was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon when he was found in possession of a defaced and loaded firearm at I.S. 204, 36-41 28th St.

+ Awoman complained that another woman, a 55-year-old Hispanic, had hit her in the chest and threatened her with a knife at 20-75 Crescent St. The perpetrator was charged with menacing, assault with intent to cause physical injury and criminal possession of a weapon.

Thursday, June 22:

+ Two white women 50 and 57 years old and a 44-year-old black man were observed inside a building at 40-20 22nd St. without permission. On further investigation, the two female suspects were found with stolen property. All three were charged with criminal possession of stolen property and criminal trespass.

+ An 18-year-old white male yelled in a victim's face at 35-37 33rd St. and was found in violation of an order of protection. He was charged with criminal contempt.

+ A 21-year-old Hispanic woman was observed operating a vehicle without wearing a seatbelt. When she was stopped at 43rd Street and Astoria Boulevard, she produced a fake license and a fake Social Security card. She was charged with possession of forged instruments, criminal possession of stolen property and seat belt violation.

+ An 18-year-old Hispanic male was observed in a store at 28-56 Steinway St. removing merchandise from shelves and walking past all points of sale without paying. He was charged with criminal possession of stolen property and petit larceny.
