The revival of I.S.10 in Long Island City continues as the school welcomed the return of a long awaited drama program. After a successful year of an Tongoing renovation and improvements in the academic department, I.S.10 has been a recipient of the Broadway Junior Grant, which has enabled them to put the production of the Broadway musical "Annie" on the auditorium stage.

The performance, which played on May 18 and 19 at 6 p.m., filled the entire junior high school auditorium each evening as students showed off their acting and singing skills. The audience, composed of parents, friends and community members gave the performers a standing ovation. Although I.S. 10 is not a school for music or fine arts, the cast list for the amateur performance was filled with talented kids who displayed ability, humor and skill, all the while entertaining the audience. Drama teacher Christina Suffman was responsible for organizing the entire show with the students. Teachers Nancy DePoalo and Joey Khoury also guided the children throughout the entire theater process.

I.S. 10 was once considered the jewel of its district. Current Principal Clemente Lopes is devoted to restoring that status, and the results offer ongoing rewards.
